Public Protection Units
Across Somerset the police have set up
Public Protection Units (PPU), one is
based in Taunton and the other in
Yeovil. The establishment of the
district Public Protection Units aims
to deliver a better service to
residents of and visitors to Somerset
by: - Providing a
holistic service to the most vulnerable
members of our society, linking key
areas of work (domestic abuse,
vulnerable adults, dangerous offenders
management and child protection);
- Identifying vulnerable people early
and referring them for the services
that they require before they need
repeated police intervention;
- Making the safeguarding of children
and other vulnerable people everybody's
business and key to everything we all
do;
- When crimes are committed,
investigating them with skill,
thoroughness and sensitivity and
bringing offenders to justice.
Domestic abuse is a crime and it is
taken seriously by police and our
partners. If you are a victim of
domestic abuse don't suffer it! Report
it! In Somerset there are a number of
agencies that can help you, contact the
